The latest news from Audio Visual Media
In December 2012 we were asked to design and install a media room for a Eco House in Bath. The photo above is of the room in it’s original state.
The room where our client wanted his new Media Room was previously used as an Artist’s studio. The wall that was going to house the new 65” Samsung LED TV had no mains electric, and to keep with the original aesthetics of the building hiding all the cabling in plastic trunking was not an option. The walls were all solid concrete so even chasing the cables was again out of the question.
After various meetings we decided to stud the wall out to a depth that would house the TV and also allow for additional mains power and all of the AV cabling. The depth of the stud-work also needed to be deep enough so we could install our flush mounted cinema speakers.
Here is the stud-work taking shape. Then we installed the Sanus full motion bracket and all cabling for the TV and speakers.
We then insulated in between the timbers to give a better acoustic performance from the front speakers.
Here is the plasterboard in place and all joints taped and filled.
And now the wall after the plaster has been applied.
We then installed the three front KEF Ci160CL flush mount speakers with ultra thin bezel. The bracket is full motion so the TV can be pulled out if needed for servicing.
And here is the finished install!
All the AV kit was centrally located and as part of our clients brief was to enable the ability to watch and control his Sky+HD box from the living room located at the far end of the property.
To achieve this we used HD Anywhere’s single wire converters. These are great for transmitting HDMI signals over distances up to 100 meters.
